极粗的树干、聚生于枝端的掌状复叶和下垂的大型白花为其特征。
外观

- 掌状复叶，通常有5~7枚小叶集生于一点。
- 花
- 大型白花在长花梗末端下垂，有五枚花瓣和许多雄蕊。
- 果实
- 果实内粉状果肉中有深褐色小种子。
- 树皮
- 粗大树干的树皮光滑。

- 原产地
- 热带和南部非洲；阿拉伯半岛南部
- 生态
- 为蝙蝠的食物，有动物传粉的记载。
